You might have heard from people around you that if you want to achieve anything in life then you need to do a lot of hard work but nowadays there are many students who do a lot of hard work and show their dedication throughout the year but still many of them are not able to become toppers and sustain that for long. Do you really want to know “how to get good marks in exam?” but before that, you need to understand the reason behind the failure of students in achieving the highest marks even after devoting their entire day even after efforts throughout the year studying in schools, coaching classes and even personal coaching classes? So now let's discuss some of the basic factors that result in stress in high school students which ultimately leads to low scores in exams. Our mission is helping students manage stress and for that here we are highlighting some of the key reasons why students get less marks in board exams.

DIFFERENCE OF INTERESTS

One of the most important aspects that result in school related stress and low scores of students during examinations is the difference of interests with the academic subjects.

As per the education system in India, we have to study the same course and there are very limited options available that a student could choose during high schools based on their interests and specialisation in which they could study, research and engage themselves willing to do their best but since every student interests are different and so as their capabilities therefore not everyone could score the same in all subjects in the board examinations.

PARENTAL AND PEER PRESSURE

This is the first or the second time in the life of students that they are appearing for board examinations and during this phase, many students are afraid of coming out of their comfort zone due to which even after preparing well for exams they feel pressure and stress.

Moreover, parents have expectations with their children's which they directly or indirectly portrait to their children either directly or indirectly due to which consciously or subconsciously they feel stressed and insecure about their true potential.

During this phase of life if parents support their children in the best possible way then there would no one better than them who could motivate and inspire them to deliver their best potential during the board examinations or any other exam.

If we think according to the mindset of students then during teenage they require freedom, games, experiences, friendships and due to hormone changes their intensity could be high during this phase of life.

There is no one in the world better than parents who could understand their children therefore during this time parents need to manage their children in such a way to counsel and guide the students in the right direction without forcing or emotionally blackmailing the student with fear to either do this otherwise the world will end.

In Today's world, we understand that even parents are living a stressful life and they have very little time to spend with their children due to which there is a gap in the relationship, and if this gap increases then it could make the situation even worse.

We also need to understand that behaviour of any human being is an average of five people around them, usually, we have a lot of friends during our school and college days and our actions and approach towards life is subconsciously an average of five people around us.

If an average student stays between five toppers all the time then no doubt that he will also learn their strategies and approach to become a topper on the other hand if the same person stays between five students who don’t like to study then no doubt that he will also lose his interest in studies.

And if there is a sense of competition among the group of peers then under the influence of someone else success he might get distracted from their goals and choose the career path in which they might not become successful because it does not correlate with their interest and potential.

DIFFICULTY LEVEL OF EXAMS

The students appearing for board examination need to understand that the education board is not intended to set the difficulty level of the exam to be very difficult for students to attempt the questions with most difficulty unlike school internal examinations or college entrance examinations where the intent is to eliminate students due to the extreme competition.

Here a very large population of students in India appear for board examinations every year for the same exam, therefore, there is an optimum difficulty level of exams so that majority of students could pass the exam if they have studied well and if their concepts are clear.

If you have prepared at least 70 to 80 % syllabus in every of your subject before appearing for board exams then you will be able to pass the board exams without any issues.

METHOD OF TEACHING

If we compare education system in India with the rest of the world, then as we all know that technology is changing at a very rapid pace but on the other hand, our curriculum is the same since a decade and so as the teachers who are teaching in classrooms.

Imagine if you perform the same work every day, every month, each year for several years then you will definitely struggle with boredom & monotony and so as the teachers who are teaching every year new students the same and repetitive course of study, Since there is no update in the curriculum and syllabus therefore teachers also do not update themselves with updated knowledge and we as human beings are not so good at hiding our emotions and behaviour so that reflects in our course of action in our daily lives and applies the same in the case of teachers also due to which we hear cases where many teacher had issues with the students on the personal front where the misuse of authority takes places where teachers sometimes blackmail student for giving them less marks, submit fine to allow them with admit cards and hampering student growth strategies, insulting student in front of the whole class and many more that is the major concern and the causes of stress in high school students .

It's not like that every teacher has this kind of approach, there are many well-educated teachers with a goal to build leaders for future, but we expect that students need to identify and choose the right coach that could help them build their future.

LAST MINUTE PREPARATION

One of the most significant issues with students resulting into less scores during board exam or any other exam for which they appear is due to “Last minute Preparation approach”, with this approach we mean that it turns into intense preparation just one month before the final exams. Here we need to understand that growth doesn't happen within one day or a month but it takes years to establish a name similarly if a curriculum is specified for an entire year then it would be very difficult to prepare and remember everything within one month. Therefore if the students are guided well and they learn to manage their time accordingly between their studies and the rest of the activities throughout the year then there will not be a lack of preparation and it will be very easy to give their best in exams, otherwise students remain confused at to study which subject at what time and even after putting so much effort during the last one month even then they are able to score only average marks. Therefore a perfect balance is required between self-study, institutions and other activities.

UNCLEAR GOALS AND LACK OF CAREER COUNSELLING

During teenage, a student is free from any responsibility and this is one of the best phase of life to identify talent and career path as they do not need to pay any bills, they do not need to manage expenses to earn for a living, they are not bound to any 9 to 5 job, but even at this time they are unable to identify what they are actually good at and even if they know sometimes parents or guardian do not allow them to choose their field of interest because according to them it may not sound like providing life security.

The first career counsellor by default in the life of students are their parents or guardian  because at first, they decide what they want their child to become in life but in the practical and highly competitive scenario every student requires a professional career counselling to identify exactly what they can do best, and what should be their ideal career path.

But due to Lack of career counselling, many students turn up into a highly competitive niche like Engineering and MBA, that requires a lot of time, patience and financial investment to achieve a degree that may or may not offer financial stability and job security in Today’s world.

we wish you all the very best and advice you to give your 100% and definitely if you analyse and follow the above guidelines then you will score the best in any of your upcoming exams.
