how to get good marks in exams

By this we don’t mean that we don’t need to do hard work to achieve success but now we need to do hard work smartly so that we just don’t keep on struggling for a long period of time to achieve our goals and the same applies to even for students who want to score good marks in exams.

Before discussing about "how to write in exam paper to get good marks ?" we need to first analyse the basic pattern of the exam so that we could figure out what should be the way ahead and how to perfectly take the first step;

At first we know that most exams as per the Indian Education system are of 3 hours duration, so here we analysed that whatever we will be going to prepare from our entire syllabus we need to present it within 3 hours time in the best way possible way so that we could score good marks in board examination or any other school or college exam.

So before preparing for any subject at first, you need to analyse within yourself.
  • What is your writing speed?
Everyone has a different style of presentation and writing speed but we as students need to compete with each other based on the same exam pattern and duration that is the same for all. So no matter if you have prepared for your exam for 18 hours a day but if your writing speed is slow then you will not be able to complete your exam within the predefined time that will ultimately lead to less scores in exams. So at first, you need to practice and make your handwriting speed fast with good handwriting.
  • How fast you can attempt questions ?
During the preparation of exams, we just keep on reading the books and think we are already prepared without even realising how fast you are actually in thinking.

When the real exam paper appears in front of your eyes, Kindly ask this question to yourself about how fast you could attempt questions from the question paper. By this, we want to make you realise the time is the most important factor here and exam toppers along with preparation are really good at time management due to which they are able to attempt and complete maximum questions from the question paper that not everyone is capable of due to lack of guidance and training. Therefore here you need to think about how much time you take to think about an answer.

Once you figured out your actual true potential so now it's time to get ahead and here will be doing to discuss on how to write in exam paper to get good marks.

TARGET TO ANSWER HIGH WEIGHTAGE QUESTIONS FIRST

One of the most important exam tips for you at first that you will find nowhere in any book, or by any other teacher or coach is what we will be going to tell you here, and if you apply this approach in your exam then it will definitely make a huge difference between what your scores are actually right now and what you will achieve after using this strategy.
This is a strategy that not everyone knows and this is what makes a difference between toppers and an average student in a classroom.

When the exam begins then mostly students starts answering the questions which are of less marks or starts from the first page of question paper. Here we need to do just a simple trick that we need to attempt our question paper in reverse order with a question or section that contains questions of maximum marks.

Suppose there are 4 sections in a question paper ie, Section A, B, C & D where Section D carries 6 questions out of which you have to answer any three questions where each carry 15 marks each, then at first you need to start with this section and try to complete it within 1 hour so that within 1 hour you could easily score up to 45 marks out of 100 from just one section and similarly you need to complete the rest of the sections within 2.5 hours and within the last half an hour it would be easy for you to complete the rest 1 marks questions in section A that may carry 20 questions of 1 mark each.

With this approach, if you are able to attempt the entire question paper then you will easily be able to Score above 85 % marks in a theory exam and that will make a significant improvement in your overall scores. Here you are using the smart approach to get good marks which is "no cheating". Now it may be possible that your university or school exam rules might be different then here you need to read your exam guidelines every carefully and proceed according to them but the point here is to attempt maximum marks questions in the first half of exam duration because at that time you are filled with maximum energy and concentration.

AVOID USING MULTIPLE PENS

In Schools and Colleges many people try to use multiple pens like one with black ink and one in blue ink that they use one colour for writing heading and one for the answer body, For those who are already doing it for long is OK but for those who are using this technique as new should avoid it for now because it will waste your time in designing the answer perfectly and there are no extra marks for this approach, therefore, you must avoid it because for you every minute is important and here you should concentrate more to write the correct answer rather than using designs.

If your handwriting is good then it does not matter to use multiple pens for the same exam. Moreover, you don't need to use any other colour other than black and blue colour pens.
Suggested is that you use an only different colour for highlighting the points and not the full answer. Here you need to completely avoid using any red pen or any other color like orange, green or more which is not a standard for writing an exam.

Moreover you need to understand that the exam checker is looking for the content and not the sketch to provide you marks. So its better to focus on your answer and don't need to get confused by using multiple pens or highlighters.

PRACTICE DIAGRAMS AND ALWAYS USE SHARPENED PENCIL TO DRAW

If you observe any of the toppers answer sheets you will find that they always draw and focus on diagrams with well mentioning as required, Here it doesn't mean that you need to invest a lot of time in drawing a single diagram and waste the rest of your time, but you need to draw diagrams where ever required because with good diagram and labelling you will score more marks than just a theoretical answer. And kindly avoid drawing diagrams with a pen or any other ink, you should always use a pencil which should be a sharpened pencil to draw any diagram in your answer sheet.

TRY WRITING SPECIFIC ANSWERS IN POINTS ALONG WITH PARAGRAPHS

If you are a science student or any other subject where answers need to precise then you need to use the combination of paragraphs and bullet points to answer these questions, there is a specific misconception that if you write your answer long and like a storybook then you will get marks but to genuinely score good marks this is not just enough, If your subject demands specific answers to questions then you need to start your answer intro with a paragraph and

  • You need to specify your answers precisely like bullet points
  • This will make your points specific that you need to focus on
  • Hence it will provide more weight age to your answer
  • It also reflects your knowledge to a specific topic and will help you get more scores.

THINK BEFORE YOU WRITE AND AVOID CUTTING

One of the most important exam tips here is that you should think before you write, Yes it's very important that you should think and analyse first the questions and think about your approach before you start writing it on the answer sheet. Many students in a hurry start writing their answers in the answer sheet and after some time they realise that they did something wrong which they cross and if you do it multiple times then it will leave a very bad impression towards the exam checker and he will realise that you were not confident about your answer, therefore, you should avoid cuts and most important to think before you write.

FRAME A PERFECT ANSWER

Like every story has a start and an end, similarly when you write an answer you need to first start your answer with an introduction then you need to answer specific points in the mail body and the most important point is that your conclusion should be perfect before you end your answer, that means you should not end your answer unexpectedly, that will complete your entire topic and will lead to a conclusion that an examiner is ready to give you marks for that answer. So there are some of the Best exam tips on how to get good marks in exams that you should practice to increase your scores.
