When I was working with a multinational organisation in the starting of my IT Career then due to the intense level of office politics between me and my manager, Later I had to change that job because there was no other option left for me and it started affecting my personal life and peace of mind.
Nether she was quitting her bad behavior and neither I was backing off because my self respect was on stake, but with the continued war between me and my manager I had no option but to leave from there and find other suitable opportunity for me because during this stage a life of an employee gradually turns into living hell as everyday you need to listen to the commands of your manager or boss who’s viewpoints are maybe different than yours are you could not find a good mentor or leader that could lead your life to success, Therefore If you are stuck at the stage where you are not able to figure out “how to deal with a difficult boss?”then keep reading as here I will be giving you some steps that will help you to lead your corporate life with much ease than now.

COMMUNICATION IS THE KEY
The very first reason between a manager and employee conflict is the gap in communication, and due to this, the situation becomes more and more conflicting.
The manager and employee might be two different personalities with a different set of beliefs and perceptions, but there is always one thing in common which is self-respect.
A manager always strive for the pride of his position from his subordinates and on the other hand since an employee is a subordinate he never wants to be any less than his/her manager therefore there comes a situation in which one needs to compromise and here mostly the employee who needs to follow the command of the manager.
Suppose you require leaves for a vacation with your family and you asked for the leaves from your manager but if he rejects your application by word of mouth mention some weird reason of resource crunch, workload etc. If you came to work under his command then there might be no issue for that particular time but if you took leaves against him them then surely your manager will take strict actions against you and escalate it to the high-level management team.
So it’s better to keep updating your manager in advance verbally as well as email so that it is documented as a proof of your communication. Communication is a two-way process so you should be a patient listener too, this one thing will help you to resolve most of the issues in your corporate journey.
DON’T ACT AGGRESSIVE
If you want to know how to deal with a difficult boss then you need to understand that there are times when a meeting with your boss or manager could turn into an argument, this could be due to several uncountable reasons like justification for the task, issues with the colleagues, or injustice behaviour of manager even though you perform your work very well. When caught in a conflicting situation with your manager you should always give due time for things to settle down.
No matter how much argument you had with your boss in a meeting room but you should try to avoid the aggressive behavior when you come out of that zone, and try to act as nothing happened among your colleague so that even your manager should not feel that you are insulting him among your colleagues because you might tell it to your dearest corporate friend but it will definitely reach as a word of mouth to your manager from behind that will lead to more misunderstandings in future.
Aggressive behavior towards your colleagues, manager or any other staff could lead to behavior escalations and people will not like to work with them, and soon this could turn out into a reason for being fired from a job. It makes sense to wait for a little before confronting the situation head-on.
BE PREPARED IN ADVANCE!
I hope that you are honest, hard worker, disciplined, consistent and devote yourself to work but if you want to grow in the organisation and reach the top then being nice will not help you in any way! But when you will realize it would be too late because by that time other people will grow above you. Suppose once in a while you had an experience with your manager where he let you down maybe in front of your colleagues or other managers and now you know that you could not trust him/her for your future decisions.
You will be going to interact with many people in the organisation where you will experience people with dual face, one for you and other for your manager, and since your manager is not your friend that you could trust then you need to make sure that you also play a nice and peaceful game not letting you to suffer for the karma of someone else.
We recommend you to keep an eye on the activities of your manager toward you and observe the way he portrays himself in front of you verbally is he putting the same response in the documents, like email communication.
If you have a sense of doubt then make sure you document your meetings and interactions with your manager, keeping track of all the commitments and orders on the email, kindly avoid the telephonic and other communication platforms like Whats App, but in case you are required to do so then kindly record them and keep with you safe without letting others know about it so that you can refer back and also use them as proof’s when he/she contradicts themselves…… [Click here to read more]
