Everyone wants to achieve their dream job that could pay them well, enhance their skills, provide them recognition and help to fulfill their life dreams but in reality even after completing the top level education with Bachelor’s and Master's degrees from recognized universities, job aspirants are still struggling to get a job as per their expectations and skills.

Here we need to understand that some of the job listing websites as mentioned above is providing a common channel for recruiters and job seekers for job placements. It’s serving both ways for the recruiters as well as job aspirants.

For recruiters, they are providing them with a pool of candidates to select the once they recognize as a good fit for the job vacancy.

For job aspirants, it serves as a communication channel to forward your job profile to the recruiter to shortlist you for the role that you are seeking employment for.

In return, these website agencies earn money from recruiters for using their portal and from optionally from the job aspirants if they want to highlight their profile in front of the recruiters to increase chances for getting shortlisted.

Although we know that this initiative is highly beneficial for people looking for jobs but at the same time due to unfair use of these platforms by many fake recruiting agencies many job seekers are left with nothing in hand and could suffer losses, not just financial losses but their morale and enthusiasm highly go down.

HOW TO IDENTIFY JOB SCAMS? - AT FIRST STAGE

Once you update your profile in the job listing websites you could first expect an “interview call letter” on your email or “call” on your contact number, At first it is highly challenging to recognize whether you are speaking to a genuine recruiter or fake agent because both appear to be good at communication skills.

professional emails

They will ask you whether you are interested in the respective job or looking for a job change, and finally, if the conversation goes successfully they will tell you that they have arranged your interview at a particular venue and time.

If you receive an interview call letter on your email, the first step to identify job scam is to look at the domain of the sender, if an organization is genuine they will send an email to you from their official email and never from public domains like Gmail, Hotmail, Yahoo, etc.

For example, if the name of the organization is "XYZ limited" and for example, if the recruiter is  “Adarsh Srivastava” then sender email should be like

  • Adarsh.srivastava@xyzlimited.com ( genuine )
  • Adarsh.sharmaxyzlimited@gmail.com ( Fake )
moreover, if a recruiter is sending you an interview call letter on email, then the organization logo with the office address and their official website link should be available in the signature of the email.

HOW TO IDENTIFY JOB SCAM - ON THE CALL

Suppose you receive a call for a job interview! So here you need to listen before giving any response. Here the most important thing is to ask questions and verify each and everything before taking any decision.

  • Is it a walk-in interview?
  • What is the offered CTC?
  • Kindly share the Interview venue details?
  • Are you a Third Party employer or Consultancy? if yes
  • What are the charges or fees? and more questions like this
After you disconnect the call please do perform some background verification, if an organization is genuine then kindly check if the office is situated on the same location as mentioned by the recruiter for conducting your interview, check on google maps and search in google results and check the images of the office listed in google my business page.

If an organization is genuine then it will be listed in google search results, also check the company reviews on websites like Glassdoor

HOW TO IDENTIFY JOB SCAMS - SECOND STAGE

Now here comes the interesting fact, usually fake job scams target freshers because they are not so experienced to recognize fake recruiting agencies.
Consultancies are organizations that recruit and supply Human Resource for organizations for which they are hiring for!

These consultancies contract with organizations to supply Human Resource’s and earn revenue from organizations and not employees directly. If in case you receive an interview call letter from a third party or consultancy to appear for an interview.

Then you need to understand this - if this recruiting agency is genuine then they will never ask you for “Money” in any form like refundable amountregistration fees, training fees, etc. Usually, freshers don’t know about this due to which innocent people get scammed.

after reading this if you find any recruiting agencies giving you false hopes and recruitment promises in exchange of any small or large sum of money then we request you to straight away without any fear get away from that place asap because there will be lot more opportunities turning up in life for you.
